Privacy notice

What Accessairbility collects, why we use it and the choices you have. Survey consent version survey-2026-07-28-v2, notice updated 29 July 2026.

1. Data controller

Accessairbility Ltd (trading as Access-air-bility), registered in England and Wales, company number 11321884. Registered office: 6 Bexley Square, Salford, Greater Manchester, M3 6BZ, UK.

The privacy lead is James William Boyce. Contact info@access-air-bility.com and put “Data request” in the subject line.

2. Survey information

Our surveys collect journey or workplace context, accessibility barriers, ratings and free-text feedback. You do not need to give your name. Please do not identify another person in an answer.

Some answers may reveal disability or health information. We use consent as our UK GDPR Article 6(1)(a) lawful basis and explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) for special-category information. Taking part is voluntary and you can withdraw consent at any time.

3. Why we use responses

We analyse responses to understand recurring barriers, improve accessibility research and produce service-improvement findings. We may share aggregated or genuinely anonymised findings with airports, airlines, researchers and the public. We do not sell identifiable survey responses or use them for automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects.

4. Optional follow-up

An email address is collected only when you separately consent to follow-up. It is stored in a separate field from the survey answers and is not used for marketing. Withdrawing follow-up consent does not require you to withdraw the research response.

5. Storage, security and recipients

Responses are held in the access-controlled database provided for this website. The submission service validates field types and lengths, uses parameterised database statements and does not save your IP address or browser details with the response. The hosting provider may process limited technical logs to operate and secure the service.

Access is limited to people who need it for Accessairbility research or administration and to contracted service providers operating the website. We will not disclose an identifiable response to an airport, airline or employer unless you specifically ask us to and it is lawful to do so.

6. Retention

We review identifiable and pseudonymous survey responses no later than 24 months after submission and then delete or genuinely anonymise them unless you have withdrawn sooner. Anonymous statistics may be kept because they are no longer personal data. Follow-up email addresses are deleted when follow-up ends, consent is withdrawn or at the 24-month review, whichever is sooner.

7. Withdrawing consent

After submission, the website gives you a withdrawal reference. Save it, then email the privacy lead with that reference if you want us to stop using and delete the response. We keep only a one-way hash of the reference, so the reference itself is not stored with your answers.

8. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and data portability. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. We normally respond within one month.

You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

9. People under 18

The current surveys are for people aged 18 or over. We do not knowingly collect survey responses from children.

10. Synthetic study preview

The protected research workspace includes clearly labelled, generated scenarios for testing the instruments and analysis interface. Those scenarios contain no participant or contact data and are never stored in the real response database.

11. Donations and Stripe

When you start a donation, Stripe provides the embedded payment form and processes your payment details. Stripe may provide Accessairbility with the amount, currency, payment or subscription status, transaction reference and contact details needed for receipts, payment support and fraud prevention. Accessairbility does not receive your full card number.

We use this information to administer the payment, keep financial records, respond to payment queries and meet legal obligations. Stripe also processes information under its own privacy notice. Our local payment-event record deliberately excludes full card details and survey answers.

12. Other website information

Contact enquiries may include your name, work email and message. We use that information to respond to your request and retain it only as long as needed for the enquiry and any resulting working relationship. See the cookie policy for browser storage.
