About James

Hi, my name is James, and I’m passionate about improving accessibility within the airline industry so that people with disabilities can travel more easily. I became interested in this topic whilst completing my Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Open University Business School. For my final MBA project, I researched how to reduce the time it takes assistance to arrive at one UK airport. To my surprise, there were very few studies on accessibility within the airline industry, which is something I feel compelled to address. That’s why I founded Access-air-bility.

I’ve recently been shortlisted as one of six finalists in the Association of MBA’s Student of the Year 2024 award out of students from 285 business schools in over 70 countries. Before my MBA, I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Air Transport at Buckinghamshire New University, in which I was awarded a first-class with honours.

When I’m not working on projects for Access-air-bility, I’m a pilot for British Airways, flying the Airbus 319, 320 and 321 from London Heathrow Airport to a range of European and Middle Eastern destinations. I also play the classical guitar and the organ, and in 2022, I was made a Fellow of the National Federation of Church Musicians and a Fellow of the Society of Crematorium Organists.

If you’d like to discuss your experiences of air travel or have any suggestions on how to improve accessibility within the airline industry, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
